Here is the continuation of my previous post ‘Love of Wax Casting‘.
We previously saw the wax carved into beautiful rings all set onto our ring tree ready for the plaster goop to cover them in the metal flask. The plaster is then left to set, when the temperature rises the wax will melt and leave the indentation for the molten silver to cast.
The next part is one of my favourites, this is the transformation from wax to metal, so I’ve added a video to show the way in which the silver is melted and fired into the furnace.
Video showing the process of melting down silver to then be thrown into the cast and melting the wax in the moulds, to create lost wax castings.
